Pattern and Group races: 2009

THREE MOONS, bred by Ben Goldsmith at Rushbrooke Stud, finished second on 1,000 Guineas day at Newmarket in the Pretty Polly Stakes. Sadly she went wrong just a couple of days before the Oaks at Epsom which was a bitter disappointment for everybody.
As a two-year-old she had been beaten a neck by Midday and it was very hard to watch the Oaks finish, in which Midday finished second by a neck. Who knows where Three Moons could have finished had she been allowed to take her chance.
Now in her third year in training, FESTOSO won yet another Black Type race at Haydock, taking the Cecil Frail Stakes. In her final season of a fabulous race career she went on to finish a fine third in the Dubai Duty Free Cup Listed race at Newbury.
Owners ‘Here Come the Boys’ experienced the winning feeling at the first time of asking when PRACTITIONER scored on debut at Salisbury under Richard Hughes. The gelding went on to finish second in the prestigious Washington Singer Stakes at Newbury. At the end of his two-year-old career he was sold for 80,000gs at the Horses in Training sale to race in Hong Kong. Not bad for a horse that cost £5,500 only a year earlier.
