On 22nd March, Boris & Christina made their racecourse debuts in the Wilton Point to Point Charity Race over 11f in aid of the Dorset, Somerset and Wiltshire Air Ambulances. With a maximum field of 10 non-thoroughbreds it was always going to be a very competitive event. Christina was by far the tallest jockey and Boris was the smallest horse but this minor fact was not going to stand in their way. Boris got away to a flying start and led the field into the first bend. After that he picked off the other runners one by one letting them go past and carried on at his own pace with his short legs going twice as fast as his nearest rival. Three quarters of the way round at the top of the hill he had a fine view of the finish fought out by the runners. With a last hurrah he freewheeled down the hill to the sharp home bend and then bravely battled up the steep finish to the cross the finish line to the cheers of the large crowd. He may not have won but he was the “People’s Horse”! His efforts were rewarded with a huge bag of carrots, a bottle of champagne and a very special trophy for raising the most sponsorship monies. Overall £6,000 was raised by all 10 runners with Boris raising an incredible £3,200! An enormous thank you to all his supporters for their immense generosity.
