March Newsletter

Earlier in the month, the editor Giles Anderson contacted Harry with a view to producing an article on his exploits in France for the European edition of Trainer Magazine. Little did we know it was going to be the cover story including six pages of photographs and questions & answers! To see the edition in full go to To subscribe to the magazine, click the link below

On the opening day of the Turf Flat season ROBIN OF NAVAN (6yo colt) made his seasonal debut at Kempton Park showed plenty of enthusiasm for racing when contesting the Magnolia Listed race. In fact, he perhaps was a little too fresh and keen and the jockey felt this would have brought him on nicely for his next run on the turf. Earlier in the month COASTAL CYCLONE (4yo g) ran another good race to finish 4th at Chelmsford. BALLET RED (3yo f) also made her 2019 racecourse debut at Kempton Park when looking in contention when just fading to finish 5th, She again should benefit from this run and will be running again soon.

The report, commissioned by Jockey Club Estates and West Berkshire District Council and undertaken by economic and social researchers SQW, showed Lambourn and close-by parishes East Garston and Great Shefford benefited from racing to the tune of £22.6m, and the sport was also responsible for the equivalent of 754 full-time roles, 30 per cent of an estimated total of 2,500 jobs in the area. Horseracing contributes more than £20 million a year to the Lambourn area and is responsible for almost one in three jobs, according to a study which local MP Richard Benyon says underlines the importance of the sport to the region.

We employ 16 full and part time staff here at Windsor House Stables and it is great to contribute to the local economy as a family business.

Our Assistant Trainer Rachel has got the bug for race riding after riding super star lead horse STORM ROCK in a Charity race for Racing Welfare last year. She has completed her Amateur Rider course at the British Racing School and is now looking forward to having her first ride under rules.

The weather is sunny and the Flat season has started so if you haven’t got a horse to have any fun with there is still time to purchase one at the forthcoming Breeze Up sales. Harry will be attending most of the sales looking for another Breeze up graduate like Robin of Navan who cost 47,000 euros and has now won over 750,000 euros and a Group 1 race!
