June 2008 Newsletter
1st June 2008
The three year olds continue to run well. BAHAMIAN BLUE was a game 3rd at Salisbury under a positive ride from his jockey and just failed to hold on at the line. RED AMARYLLIS put up a brave performance at Warwick on ground that was not entirely to her liking finishing a close 4th. Again at Warwick, RHODE ISLAND RED was a fast finishing 4th after losing much ground at the start. Dual winner AIR CHIEF ran into all sorts of trouble in his race at Goodwood and was making up ground when finishing an unlucky 5th.
CLASSIC REMARK was foiled by the fast ground in the Lingfield Oaks trial which was frustrating but she ran a fine race to be 2nd just touched off in her next race at Lingfield.
The two year olds are making steady progress and our first runner should be at the beginning of June.
The National Hunt team are all enjoying their summer holidays except for SWORDSMAN who will be aimed at a summer hurdling campaign in England or abroad.
Gifford’s Circus
For the annual spring outing Harry took the team including Tom and William to Giffords Circus. This quintessentially English country circus included a beautiful Andalusian horse, a big white goose and some incredible acrobatics. Spotted amongst the audience was John Warren with the staff of Highclere Stud, two bloodstock agents Alastair Donald and Ed Sackville and racing manager Angus Gold.
Lambourn Carnival
After last year’s stunning success as overall winners of the Lambourn Carnival, Windsor House Stables is out to defend its title. This year’s carnival entry will be “The Star Trek Enterprise”. The ship is already under construction and Mo Wright is busy making star spangled costumes. If you are interested in helping them make it to the winners podium and would like to sponsor a costume [£20] or make a donation towards the building materials then please make cheques payable to Harry Dunlop Racing and post to the usual address. All monies raised on the day will go local Lambourn Charities and the Berkshire Air Ambulance.
