July Newsletter

9th July 2008

On Friday 26th June the 3yo filly CLASSIC REMARK won a Listed race at Newcastle. She was sent off at 40-1 and won going away from the field to record Harry’s first black type winner. She thoroughly enjoyed the good to soft ground and will now be aimed at Group race level both in England and abroad. The filly had shown promise on her first start at Newbury in April when finishing a close 4th behind Clowance who went on to be 4th in the Juddmonte Oaks at Epsom. This was the only other time she had run on soft ground.  DR BRASS was Windsor House Stables’ first runner at the Great Leighs, the new All-Weather racecourse in Essex. He ran an encouraging race finishing 4th. RED AMARYLLIS continued to show her consistency by finishing 3rd at Leicester and will now be aimed at a race in Jersey.

The two year olds are progressing well and some have now made their racecourse debuts. BLAZING BUCK was the first 2yo colt to take to the racecourse and he delighted his first time owners with an eye catching run at Lingfield Park.  ORDER ORDER ran a very pleasing race at Salisbury and will appreciate next time some cut in the ground. Over the forthcoming weeks more of the stable’s 2yos will be making their racecourse debuts which should be very exciting.

The National Hunt team will be returning to Windsor House Stables in the next ten days. SWORDSMAN is going well and is being aimed at the valuable Market Rasen totesport6 Summer H’cap Hurdle with a possible trip to America to either Saratoga or Belmont Park to run in a Grade 1 hurdle.

Parade of Horses & Owners Lunch

The day started with torrential rain but luckily by the start of the Parade the sun came out.  Whilst everyone sat in the barn the horses were paraded past the doors accompanied by a running commentary from Harry on the microphone. This format worked well and it was excellent experience for all the horses especially the unraced 2yos. All horses behaved well and Phil Wright and his team must be congratulated on their turnout of both horse and lad.  For those who braved the elements thank you for coming and helping to make it a thoroughly enjoyable day. Many of you asked where the ham came from. Sadly it was not from one of Christina’s prize winning Berkshire pigs but from Forman & Field 0208 525 2352.
