May 2009 Newsletter

8th May 2009

Earlier in the month THREE MOONS finally broke her maiden tag when winning at Folkestone. Having finished 2nd four times in a row as a two year old Harry was keen to start her 3yo career with a win. Her next target was to get some back type. This would mean finishing in the first three in Listed class or above.  Her next stop was the Guineas meeting at Newmarket.

Ridden by Frankie Dettori THREE MOONS ran a fantastic race in the Pretty Polly Stakes at Newmarket to finish 2nd to the Juddmonte owned Take a Hint. This was a classic trial race for the Epsom Oaks on Friday 5 June. Both fillies pulled 5 lengths clear of the field and Three Moons having battled all the way went down by a length at the finish. A very exciting and rewarding day for everyone at Windsor House Stables.

BAGBER continued his consistent form when finishing 3rd at Nottingham. PETER GRIMES returned to the scene of his triumph and managed to finish a gallant 4th in a tough handicap at Folkestone. VELLA made an encouraging 3yo debut when 6th at Bath.

The Two year olds are all progressing well and the first ones should be making their racecourse debuts in the middle of May.

A THANK YOU

Thank you to everyone who attended the Lambourn Open Day. Despite the gathering of dark clouds the morning stayed dry and the crowds poured through the gates. About £40,000 was raised for local charities; a fantastic amount and another good reason why Good Friday should stay “race-free”!

DATE FOR YOUR DIARY – OWNERS DAY
