JULY 2009
ARRIVEDERLA continued her fine run when just denied 3rd in a very competitive race at Haydock Park. She will now have a well deserved mid season break and be aimed at an Autumn campaign. AROUNDTHEBAY added another win to make it 3 wins to date when running out a comfortable winner at Folkestone. It was good to see her back in the winners enclose after suffering a very rough passage in her previous race. She was then 6th at Warwick in a Listed race won by Golden Stream. BAGBER ran an absolute blinder and was unlucky not to win when 2nd at Sandown Park. FESTOSO went over to Fairyhouse, Ireland where rain had been predicted. Sadly not enough fell in time and despite the good ground she ran well to finish 6th in the Group 3 Brownstown Stakes beaten 2½ lengths by the winner.

PRACTITIONER made his racing debut at Salisbury racecourse. Ridden by Richard Hughes he ran out the easy winner of the maiden. This gave the Here Come the Boys partnership a winner from their first ever runner! The horse then returned to the scene of his triumph to take 3rd in a highly competitive auction conditions race where he had to make up ground after being badly interfered with. A very satisfactory start for all the “boys” involved and not bad for a gelding that cost £5,500 from Doncaster St Leger sale! EXPENSIVE LEGACY and SOUNDS of THUNDER both made their debuts at Salisbury and ran well in what turned out to be a very rough race. Here Come the Girls showed tremendous support for Expensive Legacy with 24 members turning out to watch her race. LISTILLO nearly managed to secure one of the Breeze Up £10,000 bonuses when 2nd at Wolverhampton just being denied first place at the finish.
NEW ARRIVAL!
A new unraced recruited joined Windsor House Stables in the late spring. Roo, aged 29yrs is a Welsh Section A cross bred by Penny Hills (wife of Barry). He is stabled by the house and Tom and William regular visit him feeding him his favourite foods such as cake and meringues. Following his grandfather’s passion for showing Tom and Roo made their showing debut at the Lambourn Carnival Show in the Absolute Beginners Riders Class on a lead rein. Out of a field of 19 he was pulled in 3rd much to the delight of his parents. The judge commentated on his unique riding style – one handed whilst the other waved in the air whilst trotting shouting “galloping”!
OWNERS DAY
This year’s owners Day was a huge success. The weather held and the parade was held on the gravel at the top of the main yard. Over 115 owners turned out to watch the horses who all behaved beautifully with the exception of Peter Grimes who was very fresh and played to his audience! Jeremy and his team produced fabulous roast whole lambs and the last guests left at 4.30pm. A huge thank you to all the staff members of Windsor House who turned their horses out to such a high standard and kindly gave their time for free.
DATE FOR YOUR DIARY – LAMBOURN CARNIVAL Sunday 30 August 2009
This year the team at Windsor House Stables is determined to retain the Best Racing Yard Entry cup and also win back the overall Best Float Cup. The theme of the float will remain a secret until the day but will be spectacular and worth the wait. It is made by the staff and done in their own time with the help of the odd case of beer! Last year they helped to raise hundreds of pounds for local charities. Al donations towards the cost of the float are welcome however large or small. If you would like to contribute then please send monies to Sarah at the office.
