SEPTEMBER 2009

What a difference a month makes!  Harry’s 1st Winning Double, Top of the Trainers Hot List and Black Type Placing.

Monday 24th August 2009 will always be remembered as the day of Harry’s first winning double. After CANDYFLOSS GIRL’S eye-catching 3rd last time out at Kempton Park, she returned to the track where propelled by her trademark whirling tail she went two better and won under the guidance of up and coming jockey David Probert.  The only other H. Dunlop trained runner on the card was BAGBER. Champion jockey Ryan Moore stated after finishing 3rd last time out he would win on him next time. True to his word he and Bagber led from start to finish producing the second winner of the afternoon. Sadly Harry was not there to witness this great milestone as he was at Doncaster Bloodstock Sales buying future champions. There were few people left at the Doncaster Sales ring who were not aware of this achievement largely due to Christina’s excited shrieks of delight watching it on the big screen!

Another notably and very worthy winner was CROCUS ROSE. Having been very unlucky not to win her last two starts – both due to admitted jockey error; she thoroughly deserved to get her head in front at Salisbury. This was a first success for When Harry Met Rosie Partnership and was also a fitting tribute to Biddestone Stud and the stud’s owner the late John Moore.

One of the highlights of August was seeing members of Here Come the Boys cheering home PRACTITIONER in the prestigious Washington Singer Listed race at Newbury. First time out in blinkers he ran a cracking race and was 2nd to Azmeel, who trainer John Gosden rates as a potential Derby horse for next year. Practitioner has provided the partners with some memorable racing moments as well as finishing in the top three in all of his races to date. Hopefully the recent purchases (see below) from Doncaster Bloodstock Sales will be as good if not better than Practitioner who was bought there last year.

PETER GRIMES continued his fine form and finishing 3rd just missing out on 2nd place at Newbury.

Salisbury racecourse is known for unveiling exciting horses for the future and ONE COOL POPPY finished an eye catching 4th on her debut run.  SOUNDS OF THUNDER ran a very good race when finishing 4th at Warwick on Bank Holiday Monday just behind fancied horses from Juddmonte, Godolphin and Sir Michael Stoute.

CONGRATULATIONS & GET WELL

Christopher Craig-Wood, owner of Practitioner and Aroundthebay married Chloe Lilley. Everyone here at Windsor House Stables wishes them a very happy marriage packed with winners!  Barry Marsden is currently in Barnstaple Hospital and we all wish him a speedy recovery. On another note Harry and the boys have spent most of August in quarantine as they have all had chicken pox. Thank you for all your messages and top tips.
