October 2009 Newsletter

9th October 2009

Another winning month for Windsor House Stables.

FESTOSO (4yo) ran a truly remarkable race when finishing 3rd in a Listed race at Newbury behind the two Godolphin runners, one a previous Guineas favourite.  What made the result even more commendable was the fact that the ground was not in her favour and the decision to run was only made after the first race of the card. BAGBER (3yo) left Windsor House Stables in style when winning his second race in a row the claimer at Salisbury. He was claimed for £30,000 by Peter Monteith to go jumping up in Scotland. PETER GRIMES (3yo) who won for his owners Be Hopeful has been sold to Alan King to go jumping.

AM I BLUE (3yo) finished 2nd at Folkestone tried over the distance for the first time. CROCUS ROSE (3yo) maintained her consistent form when finishing a brave 3rd when over 2 miles for the first time at Kempton Park. She will now be kept back to 1m6f for the remainder of the 2009 season. WIGHTGOLD (3yo) returned to her regular track Folkestone where she was a very fast finishing 3rd and was unlucky not to have been 2nd.

TRULY MAGIC (2yo) recorded a last to first win at Leicester for The Ex Pats partnership. She came home at 40-1, our biggest priced winner to date! LADY SLIPPERS (2yo) made her racing debut on soft ground at Salisbury where she ran a fantastic race to be 2nd to one of Henry Cecil’s highly rated 2yos.  LISTILLO (2yo) made amends for his sulky performance at Warwick when fishing 2nd (again!) at a very rainy Wolverhampton. He will now race in France for the winter all weather season.

PRACTITIONER (2yo) took his owners Here Come the Boys to Doncaster for the St Leger meeting where he finished 3rd in a Class 2 maintaining his fantastic race record of never being out of the first three, not bad for a £5,500 purchase! OLD MONEY (2yo) ran at Chepstow where she finished an eye-catching 3rd in a very competitive maiden. ROYAL ETIQUETTE (2yo) made his first trip to Wales to Ffos Las where he was 2nd to one of Sheikh Hamdan al Maktoum’s horses who holds a Grp1 Racing Post trophy entry, which was a very good effort. SANTA MARGERITA (2yo) made her racing debut at Lingfield where she was unlucky in running and finished an eye-catching 4th.  CANDYFLOSS GIRL (2yo) continued to reward her owner Stephen Buckmaster with a gallant 3rd place at what is fast turning out to be her favourite track, Kempton Park.

PIG NEWS

It was good to see some of you at the Newbury Show. Despite being only 3 weeks off giving birth Truffle put her best trotter forward and came 2nd in the Berkshire Senior Sow class. A wonderful achievement as she lives outside in a 5 acre field and only had a bath on the morning of the show! She was then interviewed by BBC South Today, had her picture taken with the Chairman of the Show, and final a photo-shoot with some local children. Russet gave birth to her first litter – 3 piglets who are orange with black spots as their father was a ginger Tamworth boar.
