The Turf Flat season has almost finished, (7th November 2009), and many of the horses have now gone on their winter holidays or to various sales. Despite this, October was a month packed with drama and excitement both on and off the racecourse.
CROCUS ROSE 3yo ran the race of her life to win a prestigious 1m6f race at
AM I BLUE 3yo has been sold to go jumping. She is the half-sister to the high class hurdler Deep Purple and will be trained by Tim Vaughan. Alan King reported that PETER GRIMES 3yo schooled well over hurdles and should only be about 3-4 weeks off a run.
The two year olds continue to make eye catching runs. OLD MONEY was 2nd at Folkestone. She will now have a break. GREEN MOON, a son of Montjeu and out of the Marcel Boussac runner up Green Noon, made his much awaited racecourse debut at Newbury. Despite being very green he ran a pleasing race to finish 8th. He then returned to Newbury two weeks later and finished an eye catching 4th in a very competitive maiden. BETTER BE BLUE was a fast finishing 3rd in the claiming stakes at
PROFESSOR BOLLINI 2yo may have run his final race but he has landed on his four feet securing a wonderful home with our secretary Sarah Scott and her friend Roz Gidden where he will be rested and then retrained for pony club activities.
YEARLING SALES
The yearling sales continued to dominate much of Harry’s time and he purchased a total of six yearlings from Tattersalls October parts 2 & 3 sales. Their details can be viewed on the website under Horses for
The recent Autumn Horses In Training sale at Tattersalls saw PRACTITIONER 2yo sold for 80,000guineas. This was a staggering price for a 2yo gelding that only cost £5,500 at Doncaster St Leger 2008 sale. He will now race in
CELEBRATION & YEARLING VIEWING MORNING – Saturday 28th November 2009
Everyone is invited to a morning at Windsor House Stables to celebrate the 2009 season (our most successful to date) and view the 2010 yearlings on Saturday 28th November 2009 at 9.45am. This will give you a chance to view the new yearlings for 2010, catch up with fellow members & friends, have a glass or two to celebrate 2009 season and toast the forthcoming season. There will also be opportunities to join various partnerships and possibly buy a much wanted Christmas Present!
